I'm not sure I understand your question. You don't tell the
configurator the files you need, you tell it what YUI component you want
and then it tells you which files you need.
Say you want to use the DataTable, then in:
http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/datatable/#startthe very first thing you have is the files it needs. All components
have a similar listing, right about the same place in the docs.
It also points to the configurator utility where, if you press the
DataTable button, it will provide you with, more or less, the same files
(the configurator gives you more options, like whether you want the
optional files or the aggregate files). Each of the buttons on the
configurator corresponds to a component which you can find in the menu
to the left so, if you don't know what one of them is, just go and read
the docs for that component.
What the configurator helps you with is that, if you read the Getting
Started section of each component you need and start copying the lists
of files in each, you might end up with duplicates, and some of them are
not obvious. The configurator avoids that and, if available, will use
aggregate files, which combine two or more individual files into one so
it loads faster.
