/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO failed

Hi All,

Something has changed in my system. I can no
longer play Video DVD. When I click the DVD button
in the panel, I get the following:

libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access
libdvdnav:DVDOpenFileUDF:UDFFindFile /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO failed
libdvdnav:DVDOpenFileUDF:UDFFindFile /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP failed
libdvdread: Can't open file VIDEO_TS.IFO.

How can I fix this?

If it helps with the troubleshooting, I can mount the DVD
and play the individual in the VIDEO_TS directory.

small hack to vidix for using FX5700LE on a nForce2-mainboard (SOLVED)

Hi !

I tried to use vidix (with fbxine-cvs-2008-04-13 on a vdr sometimes viewing
hdtv) with my FX5700LE on a nForce2-mainboard. It did not work. So I figgured
out, I had to change this (sorry, I'm not used in making patch-files):

in file "libdha/pci_ids.h" replace this line:
#define DEVICE_NVIDIA_NFORCE2_AGP_DIFFERENT 0x01e0 /*nForce2 AGP
(different version?)*/

by this:
#define DEVICE_NVIDIA_NFORCE2_IGP2_HOST_BRIDGE 0x01e0 /*nForce2
IGP2 host bridge */

and in file "libdha/pci_ids.h" replace this line:
#define DEVICE_NVIDIA_NFORCE2_AGP 0x01e8 /*nForce2 AGP*/

by this:
#define DEVICE_NVIDIA_NFORCE2_AGP_PCI_BRIDGE 0x01e8 /*nForce2 AGP
PCI bridge*/

in file "libdha/oth/pci.db" replace these lines:
d 10de01e0 nForce2 AGP (different version?) 0
d 10de01e8 nForce2 AGP 0

by these:
d 10de01e0 nForce2 IGP2 host bridge 0
d 10de01e8 nForce2 AGP PCI bridge 0

in file "libdha/pci_dev_ids.c" replace these lines:

Now it work's perfect !
But: My hardware is a little bit too slow for hdtv... (about 3-5% fram loss).
For now, it's only one useful channel using hdtv, so it's no problem at all.
If there comes up more, I'll upgrade my hardware.

I did this by uncommenting some printf's and comparing the output by the
results of "lspci -vv".

Hmm, sorry for all the trouble, since all is around ffmpeg I checked the
available versions -- and this was it. opensuse has problems with setting the
precedence order of the packages, so when I "updated" ffmpeg I really
downgraded it.
Now I forced manual update and xine plays movies again.

Works for me.

Check that you have the ffmpeg plugin
(/usr/lib/xine/plugins/*/xineplug_decode_ff.so) and the libraries which it
needs; if you compiled it yourself (if not, it's a distribution problem), check
that you have the relevant header files too.

This problem is very similar to report posted on gentoo bugzilla:

My story differs a bit: I used KDE3.5.9 (opensuse 10.3) and decided to update
it to KDE3.5.10 along with other programs I use -- this include xine and libs,
mplayer, kaffeine. I didn't touch mplayer codecs.

Now, the same movies I played before now are reported as streams with
unsupported codec -- xvid. The xine settings are unchanged, the directory path
to codecs is correct, when I force playing, the audio is played OK, but there
is no video -- only black screen.

So this is pretty the same as in the report I mentioned -- in my case mplayer
does not play those files (it could -- before update) with the same results,
only audio from movies are played, not the video.

bug in latest xine-ui looking bilingual channels in DVB-S television

Hi,

arte television appears 3 times in a channels.conf if you perform a channel
scan on Astra-19.2E:

1. two times on frequency 11567 (french provider):
ARTE:11567:v:0:22000:167:136:9019
ARTE:11567:v:0:22000:167:136:9023 and

2. once on frequency 10847 (german provider):

this frequency causes me lots of trouble because this transponder's
signal level comes in much too weak.

Now if I change the audio pid of the second entry to 137 then I got arte once
in french and once in German language.

The trouble is: This only works with mplayer, not with xine-ui 0.99.5+cvs.....

If I tune one of those two channels with xine-ui the audio stays quiet,
because xine-ui does not seem to know how to handle the bilingual (or even
trilingual channels (Luxembourg f. ex.).

xine-ui should not only offer language selection for multilingual DVDs, but it
also should offer a functionable language choice for DVB-S television.

Can someone reproduce the error and write a patch to overcome that problem?

EVO demux support

I have noticed that xine doesn't have support for evo demuxing (found in hddvd's). Though it is a lost format, I don't see why it couldn't be supported. I have looked at the patches used by mplayer/ffmpeg to get it working, and it seems it's very trivial. I wish I knew MPEG specs to give it a try. Could anyone with some more knowledge give it a try?? Attached is the patch used by ffmpeg.

Some other random questions I have besides the main point of this is if xine supports bluray m2ts? (all this is of course with .evo and .m2ts already unencrypted). And is it possible for xinelib to use ffmpeg's libavformat as well as libavcodec? That could be another route. Is this an email better suited for xine-devel? I don't like posting there with things that belong in the user list and annoy the developers.

I just tracked down a problem with <URL: http://www.filmarkivet.no/open/ >
to be due to the missing RTSP support in xine-lib.
See <URL: http://bugs.debian.org/491548 > for information.
That site uses Darwin Streaming Server and it is not handled
by xine-lib. Please add support for it.

Hi,

my name is Torsten Jager from germany.
I have been enjoying XINE for quite a while. Thank you :)
Now I want to contribute to it myself.

Attached is my version of xine-lib/src/demuxers/demux_flv.c
(based on version 1.1.15) with these two additions:

a) Detection of frames dropped by the encoder of the
FLV file, and inserting of dummy frames (size = 0)
to keep correct timing.
Without this, xine plays the remaining frames at
full speed, and after about a second the metronome
pauses video to get back in sync.

b) Rewritten the metadata parser, mainly to cope with
buggy FLV files that dont exactly follow the AMF
specification. Xine used to abort parsing meta info
prematurely in these cases even if the important
"with" or "height" tags were still to come.

Maybe you find this useful for future xine updates?

BTW. I contacted the xine project coordinator a month ago
or so but got no answer. Can you get me the correct email?

There are two potential integer overflow bugs in process_commands() function in
xine-lib-1.1.15/misc/cdda_server.c. process_commands() reads some tainted data
from socket to "cmd", but doesn't check cmd rightly.

Please implement:
T Start or stop taking a series of snapshots for every frame
SHIRT-T Start or stop taking a series of snapshots for every second frame
CTRL-T Start or stop taking a series of snapshots for every third frame
ALT-T Start or stop taking a series of snapshots for every fourth frame

When one of these modes is active, this should be indicated via the OSD (on
screen display) because it will generate a lot of data. Different modes are not
allowed to run simultaneously though each other. In that case it will result in
stopping of taking snapshots.

Delay in video and audio is allowed in one of the above modes. Optionally a
maximum number of snapshots can be set in the configuration file, which can be
overridden by the user (manually in the file or via the configuration menu).

Implementing this feature will allow users to easily select the best snapshot
in their own time in stead of hastily trying to catch the correct snapshot when
a stream is playing.

Please offer an alternative to M3-<Left> and M3-<Right>. With M3 emulation, and
using the mouse anyway, this is not a convenient key combination.

I would like to suggest SHIFT-<Left> and SHIFT-<Right> to also implement:
Set position to +/-7 seconds in current stream

In this way the navigation with C (CTRL), M (ALT) and (now also) SHIFT is
grouped more better.

Implementing this would enable easier stepping of +/- 7 seconds in the current
stream.
