wifi/wpa gui for opieHi,
First I am very glad to see that Opie project is going on. I have a C760 that I don't use anymore because x11 is too slow for regular use and using outdated cacko or sharprom is not an option anymore. I a few months ago I made some work to backport wpa-gui to cacko and it worked fine. Would any of you be interested in using this work to add a gui to OPIE to manage wifi connections? Making a recipe with patches for wpa-gui does not seem to be the good option, as there are too many modifications. Maybe that would be a better idea to "fork" wpa-gui based on my work and incorporate it into OPIE base code? I really believe that a 2007 distro should have as a base component a gui to manage wifi profiles with WPA support. I don't have time (nor the skills) to do this by myself, so I hope someone can do it. If so I'll search through my archives and send the files (they must be somewhere...). Btw, I have another question related to Opie which I believe is very important on a user point of view: is there any new decent browser that could be used under Opie (I am even talking about "hakish" ways like ripping Opera from the Nokia N800, ...)? Or are we doomed to use the old buggy konqueror ? Best regards and thank you for the work done with Opie. Nicolas. _______________________________________________ http://opie.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/DeveloperWikiIndex Opie-devel mailing list Opie-devel@... https://handhelds.org/mailman/listinfo/opie-devel |

Re: wifi/wpa gui for opieThe application is very good and useful (IMHO) for OPIE. I can't say
about me that I'll surely will have this work done, but I think it's worth to put your code to public, so one of us will try to do something. Re: wifi/wpa gui for opieI just remember that I had the source code hosted here for a while:
http://sharpromfeed.home.linuxtogo.org/download/projects/wpa_gui_for_qpe.0.5.6.tgz It did compile as is in OE for cacko/sharprom, maybe there is one or two includes to change for Opie (qpe)? I look at home if I have a newer version or not. Nicolas. On 7/19/07, Dmitriy Korovkin <korovkin@...> wrote: > > The application is very good and useful (IMHO) for OPIE. Although I am interested in what you have to offer, I am unlikely to do the work of integrating this into the Opie tree by myself. If you wanted to open a bug and post a patch it would be more motivational for me. Think you could get this into a more agreeable form? Re: wifi/wpa gui for opieI have just setup a OE environment again to build OPIE so I'll try to do
what you suggest! Regards, Nicolas.
