Many thanks for the comments/explanations I have received.

My great-sorrow (trying subversion from cvs) was caused by me trying to use
(each parts) Revision as in cvs to ID the code for each and every part of
someprog.

That version 1234 uniquely identifies EVERY part of someprog revision 1234 was
what I did not understand.
