what is "mnesia_schema:get_tid_ts_and_lock/2" used for

Can someone explain the function  "mnesia_schema:get_tid_ts_and_lock/2" to me? What is it used for in mnesia?

 

Will it lock the table and when will be the lock  released ?Thanks a lot!
