use of a logging module for the prints

hi,

the gtk-doc code has lots of print statements for tracing, which are usually
commented out. I would like to use a logging module for tracing *and*
warning/error output. The obvious choice is Log4Perl [1],[2]. There is also a
debug.pm [3] modules. Any preferences?
