test my iphone portfolio pleaseI am suddenly getting a huge number of failed requests for my .xml
file for my iphone portfolio. In looking at my stats earlier this week, I saw that some wise guy was managing to get into my directory structure and browse about, so I had set up a .htaccess file to stop it. I am now worried that this is preventing iPhone users from getting access. Can someone with an iPhone check it out for me? The portfolio is 4Pi- VR Costa Rica. Thanks, John John Riley johnriley@... jriley@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

I got an error that says "There was a problem reading the Portfolio. The XML file may be invalid or missing, or the internet connection has gone down." Re: Re: test my iphone portfolio pleaseThat is what I was afraid of. I had 2600 failed requests yesterday!
I better figure out how to fix this correctly. I think it is only letting web pages call anything that is not .html, so when the iPhone tries for .xml it won't work. Thanks, I will ask for help again after I think I have it configured properly. John John Riley johnriley@... jriley@... Re: Re: test my iphone portfolio pleaseIt definitely was the . htaccess file, since I removed the
protection. Right now I am reorganizing the directory structure so that it will be easier to protect everything without blocking that folder from PangeaVR. Thanks for checking guys! I hate that I missed 2600 visits. After I get the reorganization done, I may ask you to take a look again. John John Riley johnriley@... jriley@... It is still there and everything works perfectly - as far as i can see on my iPod touch. So maybe the conflict is somewhere else? See here: PangeaVR/360pixel.de The htaccess-file (nothing new): Options -Indexes ErrorDocument 403 "Sie haben leider kein Zugriff auf diese Datei" ErrorDocument 404 "Seite nicht gefunden" ErrorDocument 500 "Sie haben leider keinen Zugriff auf diesen Server" Regards - Peter/360pixeld.de |

Re: test my iphone portfolio please- CHECK AGAIN?John,
Seems to work just fine. What did you do to fix the .htaccess file? Hoyle --- In PanoToolsNG@..., John Riley <johnriley@...> wrote: > > I hope I have it tidied up now. Re: Re: test my iphone portfolio please- CHECK AGAIN?I finally got tired of messing with it and just copped out and put an
index.html file in every directory that didn't already have one. I made the index file suggest they were lost and pointed them in the right direction. While I did have the password/login set on the site for a little while, I saw in my stats several people trying to log into it, so there were definitely some possibly misguided people trying to poke around. RE: Re: test my iphone portfolio please- CHECK AGAIN?The proper method is to remove execute access on the directory.
chmod 644 or however it is, on your webserver. read access still allows read access to all the files in that directory.
