teSTarossa is dead!!Bob Mused, <snip>
"And, of course, now the decision. Do I look for another ST1100 ABS (preferably '00 - '02 so my Givi will match), that all my farkles will bolt right on to? Or do I go for an ST1300 and start all over? <snip>" [Carl]: FYI, there is an '07 Silver ABS 1300 sitting in Cycles USA. Last winter he made an "I hope a sucker will bite" offer to SabMag. Dunno if they're ready to deal yet or not. Stop by on a steenkin' hot day when most folks are chillin' in the AC and talk.* Carl (Cool Hand Luke fan) in Bethesda * Dave Routmeister Thomson said he bought his ST1300 one snowy winter day in New York. Some times it takes the right weather to "set his mind right." _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@... http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles |

Re: teSTarossa is dead!!I *think* I recall Loudoun Motorsports having an ST the last time I was in.
They definitely have a gray FJR that has been there over a year although it should be noted it's the kind with no clutch lever. -Norris On Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 7:24 PM, Carl Custer <carl.custer@...> wrote: > Bob Mused, <snip> > "And, of course, now the decision. THANKS, update [was Re: teSTarossa is dead!!]Thanks for the comments and suggestions, everyone.
I considered fixing the bike (a big reason the estimate was so high was the cost of a frame (~1800) and the labor to completely disasemble and re-build the bike. If I were really, really confident the frame was ok, I would probably accepted the settlement and kept the bike. I just wasn't willing to take a chance. GEICO is giving me a bit over $6200 for the bike, which is not unreasonable. I got to keep all the accessories I could remobe, and we're discussing the amount of payment for the items I couldn't remove. I looked for several different models (used) as a replacement, including the ST1100 and ST1300. Couldn't find any 1100 ABS II bikes reasonably close by, except for one '99 in Richmond. In spite of how reliable these bikes are, I decided I didn't want ot buy into a 9 year old bike just now. So I ended up with an '04 ST1300. All the farkles that will fit will go on the new bike. ST1100 specific parts and accessories will be for sale soon, as soon as I can list everyhing I have and figure ot what they're worth. Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone.
