swi-prolog installation on windows

I get this errormessage when trying to do anything usefull with swi-prolog:
ERROR: =../2: Type error: `list' expected, found `[chain, tuple(Prolog Source, *.pl), tuple(Prolog Source, *.qlf)|tuple(All files, *.*)]'

os is XP proffessional.

I also get a warning when installing that I do not have enough priveleges (i've even tried installing as administrator).
version 5.4.7 installs without problems
