Thanks Igor,

We've had a Captcha enabled for all off-campus users (we're a university) for a couple months. But spear-fishers apparently log in by hand when spamming from our accounts, so the captcha is mostly useless.

If you're trying to improve security at login page, you could show a
captcha chalenge on login errors. So, at first time login still easy
to your users just put username and password to login and captcha
turns on if a login errors occurs.

We're looking at implementing a multi-step login system for our webmail
system. The idea being, as with many banks, ask a user for a username,
then challenge them with either security questions or an image
descriptor based on their username, and their standard password.

Has anybody done, wanted to, or tried this? Any ideas?

Just one last question, I'd like to perform some actions on a php script,
to, the change sqlpass, has any way or any place in the code to to this?
It'll be a local file, for example, "/mnt/file.php" or
"http://site.com/file.php"

Is this possible in any way?

Then you didn't follow the Compatibility INSTALL instructions - you
need to patch SM.

My SQ version is 1.4.9, and the compatibility is the latest.
Looking second time for Pear DB library, does "change_sqlpass" plugin, only

And after enabled it, when I login I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function load_config() in
/home/alojamento/webmail/squirrelmail/plugins/change_sqlpass/functions.php
on line 326

And on line 326:

load_config('change_sqlpass', array('config.php'));

What can I be missing?

This plugin has more issues than just that. I have a new revision
with many fixes, including this in beta testing. If you'd like a copy

The correct solution is not to use $base_uri. Instead, get_location()
is the correct code to use in header redirects.

Bottom left? Buttons? Select Range adds buttons nowhere, and links
are added at the end of the pagination (et al) row. Remember, be
concise. ;-)

You're right. I have a corrected version of the plugin available
offlist for testing. Please remember, the SquirrelMail tracker is NOT
the place to submit issues/patches/enhancements for third party
software like this. Please post such information here AND directly to
the author. Also, patches should always be submitted in unified diff

Yes... Sorry for the message that was too concise: when other plugins
add links in the bottom-left area of the message list pane, a space is
missing between the buttons added by Select Range and the others. You
won't notice the problem if it's the only plugin that adds links in that
area, or if Select range is the last plugin to do it

Perhaps you could explain what problem this patch is intended to solve.
I use select_range with SM
1.4.15 and have not noticed any display problems.

explain what problem this patch is intended to solve. I use select_range with SM
1.4.15 and have not noticed any display problems.

mark_read plugin path issue

while installing mark_read plugin version 1.42 in Squirrelmail 1.4.15, I
noticed that, at the end of mark_read.php, there was a worng redirection
(well: it possibly worked in some enviroment, where squirrelmail is
installed in a subdirectory, not in our environment where it is installed
at top level.

I corrected the code. here is the diff against the original one .

sent subfolders plugin

i get the above error when i logged into an account using sent_subfolder plugin. accounts not using that plugin is not affected. the error is shown on left_main.php which is the left side of the email.

1) DO NOT USE filtering plugins like this in SquirrelMail. It will
kill login performance and general usability. A mail client should
not be doing the work that your mail server was meant to do. Install
SpamAssassin, DSpam, greylisting or similar.

2) If you must use this plugin, it probably needs to be updated (when
was its last release?)... maybe try asking the author.

3) To fix the PHP notices you found, change that line to this:

if (!empty($GLOBALS['bayes_in_display'])) {

Firefox has a built-in inline spell checker for web forms (including
squirrelmail mesage composer), that will do real time spell checking.

I've used SM for years, and I don't recall ever seeing real-time spell checking. The
SquirrelSpell plugin places a "Spelling" button in the compose window. Click it and
a new window opens in which spelling is checked and options are provided for
handling mis-spelled words.

shared calendar bug??

i'm using sm 1.4.15 and have henced installed the sent confirmation and the shared calendars plugin and all the plugins required to use it.

now i'm facing a problem, when i compose a new message, the right_main.php appears to load nothing and is blank, and is true even when i refresh/click on the inbox/sent/trash.

may i know if its a bug or incompatible between the plugins?

Another side question, is it normal when i move a message to the trash and the left_main.php doesnt update at all.. as (1/2) beside inbox is not updated straight away to (0/1)Inbox.

I should have posted this under this list - sorry.

We just upgraded SM from 1.4.9 to 1.4.15 and now when we compose a email there
is no red underline under a miss-spelled word. I seem to remember that when you
miss-spelled a word it put a red line under the word and you could right click
on that word and select the proper spelling.

It no longer does this. Could someone give me a hint on where to look to
correct this problem. Is this controlled in the squirrelspell plugin?

First I got PHP timeouts whenever I tried to login and view mail, and, once
I extended the timeout in php.ini each page takes approx 5 mins to load and

Well, if the OP could tell us, what kind of MTA/MDA he uses, we cold
perhaps provide more help.

In my case, I use amavis-new with spamassasin. After tagging, the
filtering is done with sieve (part of cyrus, my MDA).
Users can create filters through SMs avelsieve plugin.

I recomend you to install postgrey, I used to fighty SPAM with the spamassassin, but since I 've installed the postgrey the SPAM is dead, since now, 0 ZERO spam arrived.

But, about what you wanted, to move the SPAM to another folder the user have to configure the filters in the option menu.

I have set up SM where spamassassin finds a spam it Rewrites the subject
line. Then if SM sees that subject line it moves the email to the spam
folder.

spam folder happens! I'm I getting old or did I loose that function when I

You should check what the error is in the web server logs - see the
mailing list posting guidelines for how to enable and check error
reporting. If you have an out-of-memory error, the memory_limit
setting in php.ini is the first place to check...

I'm using Shared Calendars Plugin v.2.0.1-1.4.0 and squirrelmail v.1.4.10a and I'm exporting the calendars I've made to .ics files so I can open them in outlook. Most of the calendars export just fine, the ones with a reasonable amount of events in them. But i have 2 calendars that have years of events on them and whenever I try to export them it simply times out and I can't get the .ics file. I think there is something in the php.ini file that I can change to increase the wait time before it times out possibly allowing it enough time to export, but im not sure. So any suggestions on how I can export this calendar would be much appreciated.
