I am no programmer, but if you need any help with bugfixing and so on, ask me. I have another question, maybe a bit off topic: In my opinion, all the input methods under Linux feel a bit “seperated” from the rest of the input methods from X.org. I have to switch these QT_IM_MODULE variables and so on, then I have two different icons in the tray bar of kde to switch input methods, first for German (because I have two different German keybaord layouts), and then another one for East Asian (scim); some applications don’t even work with scim and so on. This shouldn’t be anything of not appreciating the work you guys put in scim, but I am wondering (because the input methods are (I guess you have to admit that) much more convenient under MacOS X or Windows) what do you think (or maybe you already thought about it) to cooperate with the guys from X.org to “unify” the entire input methods (scim and “normal” keyboard layouts) and trying to solve the problems that still occur and making scim the default input mode for X? I hope you don’t misunderstand me, I really appreciate your work (I couldn’t have done it), but I am really wondering why this is still a bit clumsy under Linux in comparison with Mac OS X or Windows. This is a very fair point, and something that I hope to see improve in the future. One problem is with the diversity of Linux and Free Software there is not yet an "official" GNOME or KDE Input Method system, which makes integration with the desktops harder. At least under GNOME (and XFCE) due to work by Akira Tagoh, it is now possible to turn one and off Input Method usage dynamically during a desktop session using im-chooser and his imsettings framework, which is in the coming Fedora 9 for example. The next step should be to work on better integration of keyboard and Input Methods configuration and control on the deskops.
