Hi all,
I mailed a while ago, but didn't get a reply, so
I've subscribed to the users list.
I'm Rob (aka GeomanNL) and work on the project
"twx". I don't have a release yet, but will have one some day.
I use audiere to play (mod) music - I learned about
audiere because of the Dumb project, which I used before, and which is now
incorporated in this bigger sound project.
I use the audiere sound effects class to play
sound effects, but there is about a one second delay between calling the "play"
function (which automatically initializes a stream), and hearing the
sound.
I wondered if there's a(n easy) way to reduce
this delay.
Maybe there's a simple settings somewhere which I
can use ?
Some background of the project: I'm using the
allegro library for graphics and interface. I do not initialize the allegro
sound, and don't use any allegro sound routines. Of course I do
initialize audiere. Also, the delay occurs in case of a low-cpu load when just a
few ships are visible (or during a simple display of a menu), and the same delay
in case of a space battle with very heavy cpu-load. Windowed and
full-screen mode make no difference.
I'd appreciate some help on this, and if not -
then bother, no big deal, this is just one of a ton of small and
big annoying things needing a fix ;)
cheers,
Rob/ GeomanNL.
