post-commit hook: how to send output to client

Hello,

if i raise an error in a post-commit hook, the client will receive the output of the error.

How can I send output to the client without raising an error ? (for feedback)

(simple prints to sdout doesn't work)

Exactly: it doesn't work. It's not possible. Others have solved the
problem by sending e-mail.
