poco cameras made for American Camera Mfg. Co.I read with great interest Milan's description of the manufacturer of his
Triple Bed Poco (http://cgi.ebay.com/Old-Wood-American-Camera-Mfg-4x5-Triple-Bed-Poco-19_W0QQitemZ230226352365QQihZ013QQcategoryZ4701QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).
Not that I have any further information to add, but I have a very similar
discussion which ends with a very similar headache as Milan's at http://www.fiberq.com/cam/roc/view2poco.htm.

RE: poco cameras made for American Camera Mfg. Co.Oh, Larry, it gets
worse than that.
Rob and I have been
trying to figure out the "American Camera" mystery for a couple of weeks
now.
We absolutely
positively know that there is an American Camera Manufacturing Company in
Rochester - probably the one owned by EKC - we just don't know what they did for
a living. Same questions that you have.
But as to history,
we're more confused than ever.
We first thought
that there was an American Camera Company (owned by Blair in Northborough or
Northboro) AND an American Camera Manufacturing Company, probably owned by
EKC.
Then
we decided that the American Camera Company became the American Camera
Manufacturing Company after EKC bought ACC and moved it to
Rochester.
Then we decided
that there never was an American Camera Company at all - just some
confusion over the original American Camera Manufacturing Company name - lots of
circumstantial evidence for this . . .
But then it there
is this . . . American Camera Company in Rochester.
![]() And there are at
least two other pics online of a camera with a name plate that reads
"American Camera Company, Rochester, NY" as well as a couple with the "Made by"
name plate for American Camera Manufacturing Company.
So, we're not quite
back to square one - more like some negative number. We've been losing
ground steadily.
Eaton? This
is your sort of thing. What's going on?
