nss3.dll crash with mfcembed (and my app)

ive embedded gecko (FF v2.0.0.14) into my app.

if i navigate to any https site, my app crashes (as does mfcembed) -
access violation in nss3.dll.

i saw this thread but not sure if it really answered my q:

didnt do profile initialization :(

when embedded i have no need for profiles - so im not sure why gecko
is forcing me to initialize it...
