netbeans / fedora 9 / remote X server

I'm having a heck of a time getting Netbeans to behave properly using a
Fedora 9 VM and a remote X server.  I've tried it with both Xming and
the MKS X server.

Netbeans ran fine under Fedora 7.  Under Fedora 9, it displays the
splash screen quickly, but is horribly slow to ever paint or update its
main screen.

If I run under a locally hosted X server, it seems to update fine.

One would think I have a networking issue involved, but it's hard to
imagine.  My Fedora 7 VM image has a nice speedy Netbeans.

Following up ... if I disable the "start page" window for Netbeans, it
now starts up fairly snappily.

if you want to solve this in better way, file an issue against ide/code
(likely not the best component, but will be reassigned properly) into
IssueZilla. The responsible developer will/should fix it.
