moving databasesI have an other question about upgrading FM6 databases to FM9.
Right now the dbs are on a old server and when I will upgrade them to FM9 I would like to move them to an other server (where I will install FMS9A). Is it enough, once upgraded, to move them in the new server? Thanks and have a nice day! Re: moving databasesSigfrid
Although you can simply copy the files to the appropriate folder on the new server, you will then have to fix/check permissions manually. The Filemaker Server admin console has a special function (Upload Database) for moving the database files and setting them up correctly. I'd suggest using that. So what you'd do is copy the files to some arbitrary location on the server (the desktop perhaps), then choose them when the Upload Database function asks you to locate the files to upload. They will be copied to exactly the right location with exactly the right permissions. In theory.
