I have a 5501-60
I loaded monowall generic PC v1.233 generic version on a 256 CF
Bios version is 1.33 on the Soekris
When the unit is powered on it fails to locate the CF and it fails.
If I then issue a reboot m0n0wall boots.

How can I get this to boot m0n0wall at power up without needing a console cable.

what's the manufacturer of the cf?

I run monowall on some 70s so I'd speculate it's not an across the board
issue.

The problem is an interaction between the Net5501 and some CF cards,
is OS-agnostic.
See the official answer at http://soekris.com/Issue0006.htm

What I found was that if I upgrade the BIOS to 1.33b the card is
detected but boot fails, the only solution was to walk over to Circuit
City and buy an authentic Sandisk card.
