make my bassguitar sound goodHi,
I'm using my bassguitar without an amp. I use a dmp 3 preamp and my maudio audiophile 24/96. How can I make my bassguitar sounds good this way? Is there software which can make the sound better and how? Thanks in advance, _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

Re: make my bassguitar sound gooddepends on what sort of bass sound you want. i would suggest playing
around with ladspa plugins such as the caps series. the most common things you would want to do with a bass guitar sound are eq, compressor/limiter and possibly overdrive/amp sim. hope this helps. porl ps. maybe you could upload a sample of your playing somewhere and a description of what sort of sound you are after and people could give you examples of what ladspa plugins and settings they would use to get it? just an idea. 2008/7/20 schoappied <schoappied@...>: > Hi, > > I'm using my bassguitar without an amp. No matter how hard I try I cannot make my Ibanez sound like Chris Squire's Rickenbacker. However it can sound like a solid rock bass. All depends on what you are trying to do... - Mark _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

I find I cannot change the real nature of the instrument itself but rather can just move it a bit in the direction I want it to go. When I record bass, I go through a tube pre-amp (like one of the ART ones) and then direct into the board (in my case, a Hammerfall RME interface). A tiny bit of EQ or compression helps also, although the tube pre-amp add some nice warm tube compression and even a tad bit of overdrive. A little bit of flange/phase shift or chorus can add a little character to the tone also, as long as it isn't overdone. But the latter can be added in post, so you can adjust to taste without ruining the original (nothing worse than getting a perfect take only to find out you had too much flange or something that can't be removed later). -- Brett ------------------------------------------------------------ "In the rhythm of music a secret is hidden; If I were to divulge it, it would overturn the world." -- Jelaleddin Rumi _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

Huge difference on a bass. I love putting a new set of strings on a standard guitar. We all know that pleasure. But on a bass it seems it's really important to find the right brand of strings to bring out the best sound the bass has to offer. I'm lucky to live near a great guitar shop where I could get some good advice. They were nice even though my two instruments are by most measures not so good. However they were good and pointed me toward a couple of different options that worked out well. I don't use the same strings on each instrument and personally will never recommend bass strings at all as I think the right choice depends too much on the instrument. - Mark _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

This guy is awesome, and I didn't have to look for strings, he puts in La Bella Super Steps, which are the best strings ever (as far as I know), and it just sounds so magical. By the way strings are very good mean not be on ease with the instrument, if they're not well chosen. So, once again, if you're note on ease, you won't produce a good sound. > - Mark > -- ============================== ORL /// AMMD Booking (www.ammd.net) ° Sebkha-Chott (www.sebkhachott.net - Ohreland [FR]) - next touring period: 04-06/2008 ° Unexpect (www.unexpect.com - Montréal [CA]) - Europe tour w/ Sebkha-Chott period: 09-12/2008 ° La Muette (www.myspace.com/muette - Paris [FR]) - next touring period: 05/2008 (Bretagne) ° Mel-P (www.mel-p.net - Le Mans [FR]) - next touring period: 09/2008 Phone: +33 (0)2 43 52 15 77 _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |
