Hi!
I'm trying to figure why my lirc setup is so inaccurate. My setup:
- Dell D810 laptop, Fast IR built-in device in COM1
- Ubuntu 8.04
- lirc and lirc-modules-sources packages installed
- my /etc/lirc/hardware.conf:
amartoq@videopodcast:/etc/lirc$ more hardware.conf
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
#Chosen Remote Control
REMOTE="SIR IrDA (built-in IR ports)"
REMOTE_MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_sir"
REMOTE_DRIVER=""
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"
REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF=""
REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS=""
- call "setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none" at start of /etc/init.d/lirc
- start /etc/init.d/lirc
- execute irw
I've tried 4 remotes at home but all of them worked really bad. Now I
reduced to game to only this remote:
http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/sony/RMT-814The problems are:
- Most of the time no button is recognized at all.
- If a keep a button pressed:
- sometimes it may be recognized as a 1 button press each 10 seconds.
- sometimes it is recognized as 10 repeated button press and then no
luck again for a loooong time
Finally, I discovered that If a keep my keyboard ENTER pressed in the
gnome-terminal, ALL BUTTONS ARE CORRECTLY RECOGNIZED! As soon as I press
any button, the only caveat is that I get 3 repeats. Other keys (like
CONTROL) doesn't work... Keeping the ENTER key has the effect of putting
my CPU usage above 90% with my gnome-terminal maximized. It seems to
work only with high CPU usage.
What could be wrong in my setup? Some fine-tuning of some parameter or
something?
Thanks!
