lircd enters "uninterruptible sleep" (Ds)Hi,
I'm having a problem with my current installation of lirc from CVS. I'm using the lirc_imon driver and kernel 2.6.25.6 (SMP). When I start irw, everything works OK. I can kill irw, and restart it, no problem. But when I do the same with mplayer or xine, my lircd enters the "uninterruptible sleep" state: 3847 ? Ds 0:00 \/usr/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc0 The only way to 'kill' the process is to do a reboot. I've also tried to start the daemon with the 'no daemon' (-n) option, but this results in a 'hanging' console. I've never had this problem with my previous installation, but I reinstalled my machine and now I'm facing this problem. I attached a small log file from running $ strace -fvip on the pid and then calling mplayer. It hangs on the "close(7" call, but I don't know why. Any ideas? If someone needs more debugging info, please let me know. -- Eric [ffffe424] select(5, [4], NULL, NULL, {1, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) [ffffe424] gettimeofday({1216652556, 624140}, NULL) = 0 [ffffe424] gettimeofday({1216652556, 624182}, NULL) = 0 [ffffe424] select(5, [4], NULL, NULL, {1, 0}) = 1 (in [4], left {0, 988000}) [ffffe424] gettimeofday({1216652556, 636953}, NULL) = 0 [ffffe424] accept(4, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="³¿"}, [2]) = 6 [ffffe424] setsockopt(6, SOL_SOCKET, SO_LINGER, {onoff=0, linger=0}, 8) = 0 [ffffe424] fcntl64(6, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) [ffffe424] fcntl64(6, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 [ffffe424] time([1216652556]) = 1216652556 [ffffe424] write(5, "Jul 21 17:02:36 htpc lircd: acce"..., 62) = 62 [ffffe424] stat64("/dev/lirc0", {st_dev=makedev(0, 11), st_ino=6509, st_mode=S_I FCHR|0660, st_nlink=1, st_uid=0, st_gid=44, st_blksize=4096, st_blocks=0, st_rde v=makedev(61, 0), st_atime=2008/07/21-17:01:28, st_mtime=2008/07/21-17:01:28, st _ctime=2008/07/21-17:01:28}) = 0 [ffffe424] open("/dev/lirc0", O_RDWR) = 7 [ffffe424] ioctl(7, I2OGETIOPS, 0x80638c8) = 0 [ffffe424] ioctl(7, IPMICTL_GET_MY_ADDRESS_CMD, 0xbfb3bdb0) = 0 [ffffe424] ioctl(7, IPMICTL_UNREGISTER_FOR_CMD, 0x80638d4) = 0 [ffffe424] gettimeofday({1216652556, 638002}, NULL) = 0 [ffffe424] select(8, [4 6 7], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [6]) [ffffe424] gettimeofday({1216652559, 62726}, NULL) = 0 [ffffe424] select(7, [6], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 1 (in [6], left {0, 0}) [ffffe424] read(6, "", 256) = 0 [ffffe424] shutdown(6, 2 /* send and receive */) = 0 [ffffe424] close(6) = 0 [ffffe424] time([1216652559]) = 1216652559 [ffffe424] write(5, "Jul 21 17:02:39 htpc lircd: remo"..., 43) = 43 [ffffe424] close(7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ |

I switched back to kernel 2.6.24 SMP (2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686) and now it works. I seems like something in 2.6.25 and 2.6.26 is breaking my lirc support, but I don't know what. -- Eric ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ |

FW: Directv USB TestHi all, I'm looking for a nice simple way to test my d11-100 usb port and have not found way thus far. I've been fighing with the directv.pl script for over a week now and am starting to believe the DTV support people that say that this port is disabled despite all of the success stories I see on the internet regarding this configuration. Therefore if you have a way of testing this port I would surely like to hear it. Any help is appreciated. PS. There errors I get are "excesive retries" with /dev/ttyUSB0 as my port. Thanks, R. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ |

Re: FW: Directv USB TestMine has worked great for me. I have had the following work for over a year with no problems:
mythbe1 serial port -> Null Modem (I wired this myself rather then buying one) -> IOGear Serial to USB -> DirectTV D11 Tuner or mythbe1 USB port -> IOGear Serial to USB -> Null Modem (I wired this myself rather then buying one) -> IOGear Serial to USB -> DirectTV D11 Tuner Mine did not work at all until I got the null modem wiring working right.
