Yes, there are. In particular we are working on a mechanism that allows creating ontologies without the need for defining the schemas and just working with the ontological classes plus proper annotations when needed.
Since we intend to preserve the compatibility with Java 4, however, this mechanism will be included in the JadeMisc add-on and not directly in the jade core distribution.
