image scale and print issue with gimp win 2.4.6...So i have an image that is extremely large, 1600x1200. i have adjusted
the print size to 2"x2", however when i print it seems like this is completely ignored and the large, original size is what is printed. maybe i am missing something here, but even the image settings tab of the print dialog i see a 2x2 image that i can move around. any thoughts, or ideas? TIA! |

Re: image scale and print issue with gimp win 2.4.6...The print.exe plug-in that is part of 2.4 is buggy. The work around is
to delete it and use the winprint.exe plug-in from 2.2. --- In gimpwin-users@..., "jeremybreiding" <jbreiding@...> wrote: > > So i have an image that is extremely large, 1600x1200. i have adjusted > the print size to 2"x2", however when i print it seems like this is > completely ignored and the large, original size is what is printed. > > maybe i am missing something here, but even the image settings tab of > the print dialog i see a 2x2 image that i can move around. > > any thoughts, or ideas? > > TIA! > |

At some point (2.6?) an old winprint.exe you might find won't work any more. Just get used to the fact that printing is not one of the well-supported aspects of GIMP on Windows, and use some other application to print your images. --tml [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Re: Re: Re: image scale and print issue with gimp win 2.4.6...In the Print dialogue, click the Image Settings and change the X and Y
resolution. If it is typically 96 dpi, your images will be huge. A little trial and error and you will be able to work out a calculation to fit any image to your paper size. Re: image scale and print issue with gimp win 2.4.6...I keep a 'legacy' copy of Photoshop 6.0 for printing and scaling.
I should probably start a new post, but since upgrading to GIMP 2.6 my PSPI.exe fails to load; it crashes on startup with multiple missing DLL errors. Of course I populated the correct directories with multiple requested DLL's, but still no go. So no Photoshop plugins for the GIMP. (I really miss the lovely and gracious optikVerve Labs' Virtual Photographer). Another reason to keep the old pshop warhorse at the ready... |

Yes i think you should open another topic, and offer more and more correct data As example "... since upgrading to GIMP 2.6"...Is impossible update to 2.6 since is not yes released, you may have updated to 2.4.6 (or to 2.5.x but that is less luckily) Then you may better take a screenshoot or however copy the the error message. Even better may be start gimp from command line (is not complex only at least on my pc the prompt "gimp" do no work ,instead you have to write the path for gimp.exe ...and press enter, that is it ) and then copy the console output I will suggest to 1 move away in a back up folder all your ps plugins but not pspi exe 2 try again, you still get error messages? 3 If not move back your ps plugin ... if not one by one at least in very little group each time reload gimp 4that will help to locate any incompatible plugin, that you should move permanently away A single incompatible ps plugin may not only issues a lot of disturbing warning but even crash pspi, if so no other PS plugin will work, even if they will remain visible in the menu (that happens seldom...but seldom if you have a dozen of PS plugin become probable if you have more then hundred and almost certain if you have even more ) Anyway better if you > |

Re: WAS:-image scale and print issue with gimp win 2.4.6.-NOW PS Plugin problemsOf course you are correct my friend...the version is 2.4.6, not 2.6.
I did as you suggested, and found that the GIMP plugin directory was selected incorrectly; since I only have one PS plugin I care about, it worked perfectly after copying that folder and content to C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\optikVerveLabs and eliminating the incorrect path to Adobe. Thanks! > As example "... since upgrading to GIMP 2.6"...Is impossible update to > 2.6 since is not yes released, you may have updated to 2.4.6 (or to > 2.5.x but that is less luckily) > > Then you may better take a screenshoot or however copy the the error > message. > Even better may be start gimp from command line (is not complex only > at least on my pc the prompt "gimp" do no work ,instead you have to > write the path for gimp.exe ...and press enter, that is it ) and then > copy the console output > > I will suggest to > 1 > move away in a back up folder all your ps plugins but not pspi exe 2 > try again, you still get error messages? > 3 > If not move back your ps plugin ... if not one by one at least in very > little group each time reload gimp > > 4that will help to locate any incompatible plugin, that you should > move permanently away > > A single incompatible ps plugin may not only issues a lot of > disturbing warning but even crash pspi, if so no other PS plugin will > work, even if they will remain visible in the menu > > (that happens seldom...but seldom if you have a dozen of PS plugin > > become probable if you have more then hundred > and almost certain if you have even more ) > > Anyway better if you > > > |
