ibatis type handler which is a spring bean?

Is there any way to register a type handler with Ibatis which is actually a spring managed typehandler?

How is the class which implements TypeHandlerCallback instantiated? Is there a way for ibatis to retrieve a spring managed bean rather than instantiating the class itself?
