and this is why I refuse to ever buy another iPod to use as a mp3
player or use iTunes for anything but casual net-radio listening
next mp3 player I'm getting is a Sansa and so I can drag my mp3's
onto and off of it rather than using iTunes
gawd what a piece of crap

and don't get me started on Apple Mail
I hate it even though I use it daily
sheesh!

I'm considering buying a cheap used Dell and loading Ubuntu onto it
for office admin work
some things Apple does well (example: FCP) while other apps are still
trying to join the 21C of computing

I'm a happy user of a Meizu MiniPlayer. It's Chinese, so it must be
good. And cheap. Also supports Flac and Ogg, but cannot be extended by
SD cards. Can be made to play ripped YouTube videos, which I never
thought I would do, until I found out that I do.

Ciao

I have an iAudio X5 with a 60gb drive and only use .ogg on it;it built
like a tank, plus there is an open source operating system available for
it and some other players at: http://www.rockbox.org  I recently bought
an iAudio 7 with 16gb RAM as a gift and have only heard them say good
things about it.  Players that do not requires special applications like
iTunes to function properly remove the buggy overly complex interfaces
and just act as removable drives when connected via USB.

Cheers,
Marc

I was one of the first to get an iPod, and now I'm thankfully and
probably one of the first to not ever want one again.  I despise
mp3s.  And I gave up net radio for the computer because of the
godawful canned sound.  If I ever get an iPod again, it will be for
language study, not music storage and it will be a flash drive, not
one of those hard drives that spins endlessly trying to find what you
want to play.
