Hallo list, Steven,
i installed 123beta right away and played around with
it. Moving the automation points is easy-to-use this
way and the foreseen feature of attaching the object
with it as well as the other ideas about handling the
automation seems sensible and well-thought.
(Small thing is that the Point Editor is in seconds
while the Timeline in the Score tab are in minutes.)
In the other discussion we and other were having in
the disappeared thread 'How to move objects' you asked
if i could elaborate about why i thought that the way
with the automation lines is now, makes a 'messy'
screen. This is 'messy' when i compare it with the
idea i was having on the automation-line-feature.
What I was thinking as a solution for the automation
lines was some kind of Blue-variable that is capable
of making a linseg as well as drawing this linseg in
the Object.
Because this linseg/Blue variable is in the instrument
itself it would move along when moving/scaling/copying
the Object. Also it would not create lines and points
outside of the Objects.
I have for instance 10 different scores for different
instruments on one layer and 10 more on the next and
so on. This means that all the automation lines from
an Object will continue in another Object. And that
other makes 3 automation lines also. In the end i will
have a dozen or more lines for just one soundlayer. Of
course i could distrubute the automation lines on
other layers but i will loose my overall view of the
composition. The distance between an Objects on one
layer and the layer containing other Objects would be
too great.
I was thinking freely along those lines and can be
misguided in my thinking of course :)
kind regards,
Menno
