Hi,
I hope that this is the right place to ask for help.

I'm attempting to install rosegarden.  Here's the end of cmake:

If I understand this, then my error is caused by not finding fftw.
However, I have installed it and it is in a known location:
/> l /usr/local/lib/libfftw3.*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1033886 Jun 23 11:28 /usr/local/lib/libfftw3.a

Now what am I doing wrongly?
Thanks,
Pierrick

hi

try installing the *-dev - packages

in ubuntu or debian with a command like:

apt-get install liblo0-dev libfftw3-dev librdf0-dev

That's odd.  I wonder why this page isn't in the new wiki at
rosegardenmusic.com/wiki?  I thought I had transferred them all when
setting up the new one.

Do you know of any other pages that aren't in the new wiki?

The complete list of pages in the old wiki is here:
http://rosegarden.wiki.sourceforge.net/space/pagelist

There are 40 pages. I can't find a way to list all the pages in the new wiki.

Thanks.  I _think_ they've all been copied over, apart from that one.
I guess it was just an aberration.

Well, they get backed up to Subversion:

https://rosegarden.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/rosegarden/trunk/website/wiki/data/pages

It's not quite up to date, but it's not far off.  I'll go and update it now.

1) Everywhere I look, I find liblo.0.6 and roregarden requires liblo.0.7
2) fftw3f: I finally got it right and it resides in /usr/local/lib, but configure in rosegarden
still complains that it cannot find it.
3) liblrdf: requires raptor which I downloaded, made, and installed, but configuring
liblrdf still complains that it cannot find raptor (which is in /usr/lib)

I've now spent the entire day on this and gotten nowhere.  Please help.

try to add
    /usr/lib
and
   /usr/local/lib
to the file
   /etc/ld.so.conf

than (as root) run the command
ldconfig

what distro / version do you use?
why not use pre-compiled packages?

get raptor here: (my version: 1.4.17):
http://download.librdf.org/source/

get liblo here:
http://liblo.sourceforge.net/
the most recent version is 0.24. On my system, there's only 0.23 so
I'm suprised RG is asking for 0.7 ...
are you compiling rosegarden 1.7.0 ?

maybe the check is wrong ?? (but on my system it did not complain...)
in that case, try editing CMakeList.txt in the RG directory
search for LIBLO
change
"PKG_CHECK_MODULES(LIBLO liblo>=0.7)"
to
"PKG_CHECK_MODULES(LIBLO liblo>=0.2)"

get fftw3 (my version: 3.1.2):
http://www.fftw.org/download.html

some output of my system (recent debian linux):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------

# ls /usr/lib/librdf.*
/usr/lib/librdf.a   /usr/lib/librdf.so    /usr/lib/librdf.so.0.0.0
/usr/lib/librdf.la  /usr/lib/librdf.so.0

# ls /usr/lib/libraptor.*
/usr/lib/libraptor.a   /usr/lib/libraptor.so    /usr/lib/libraptor.so.1.1.0
/usr/lib/libraptor.la  /usr/lib/libraptor.so.1

# echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/usr/lib

# pkg-config --modversion raptor
1.4.17

# pkg-config --modversion lrdf
0.4.0

# pkg-config --modversion liblo
0.23

$ pkg-config --modversion fftw3
3.1.2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------

maybe setting $PKG_CONFIG_PATH would help

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig
export PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib

another option;
run:

cmake . -i

liblo is one of those packages for which the version that follows 0.9
is 0.10 (rather than 0.10 being one-tenth of 1).  Version 0.7 is years
old; Rosegarden should be happy with pretty much any version that is
actually out there and in use.

Either the paths are wrong, (I dont think so)
or the installations are wrong/incomplete (I think so)

what is the output of these commands ?:
pkg-config --modversion liblo
pkg-config --modversion lrdf

have you installed the devel packages?
if not, (or additionally) install from the sources from the links I provided.

note: installation does only work as root-user !

mostly required commands for compiling from source:
./configure
make
(as root:)
make install

if you know someone with suse-knowledge, maybe he'd help you installing
the required packages. I'm not familiar with suse-specifics.

best luck

does the file exist ?:
/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/liblo.pc
(
or:
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/liblo.pc
)

use this command :
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig

what is the output of:
pkg-config --libs alsa

and:
pkg-config --cflags alsa
--> does the directory exist?

what is the output of:
ls /usr/lib/libasound*

what is the output of:

try:
