Hi there,
I'm writing this to let you know that the helma-dev mailing list is
closing down. As you may know, most efforts for new development are
moving to Helma NG, a clean slate implementation of Helma. Since Helma
NG is quite different from Helma 1 and will only get significant
compatibility with Helma 1 later on, we decided it would make sense to
reflect this in our mailing list setup.
If your focus is on building working applications with Helma 1.6.*
now, the helma-user list is for you. Helma 1 will be supported and
receive bug fixes for a long time in the future. There will definitely
more bug fix releases on the 1.6 branch. There may or may be a 1.7 on
the horizon, but most effort from now on will go into Helma NG.
Helma NG does a lot of things right, and it will be able to go places
and do things that Helma 1 never could have gone and done. It will
eventually also build a compatibility layer for Helma 1 applications -
we already made the initial steps in this direction - but the really
important thing now is to get the basics right. I'm really excited
about what lays ahead for Helma NG. If you want to be part of that
process, please join now!
