git repo structure partial concensus

Apologies to those of you who are bored of this discussion.

Can I assume that the location

     /git/debian-science/packages/foo.git

is the right place for package foo?

I don't think it is necessary for my immediate needs to fix the rest
of the structure, or decide about the fate of the svn repo.

On the one hand, this sounds a bit trivial, but on the other hand, I
would prefer to have non-broken Vcs-Git fields in my source packages.

Aside from aesthetics, I realized that this will simplify writing
tools to manipulate the repository collection; otherwise some top
level list or regexp has to be maintained, and that is boring.  Of
course, if the spirit of Bill Joy is strong in you, maybe you prefer

        /git/debian-science/pkg/foo.git

Whatever. Let's just decide.

David

Yep, fine for me!

Not sure if I count as I just started and only have one package in the repo but I fine with it in any case. I'd mostly like to just get set on something so I can get the Vcs-* fields set and get a new upload finished off.

It's ok for me as well. Just drop a line if you move packages, so that
I can fix my Vcs-fields and push URLs.

I'm fine with that. After all the replies I'd say we have consensus on that.

Best regards

OK, one baby-step to coherence :-). I have updated the wiki,

    http://wiki.debian.org/DebianScience/ContributingToDebianScience

I also added a few pointers into the mail archive to a couple of the
"git tips and tricks" threads.  I expect that will be obsoleted pretty
soon by some more coherent document.

Thanks for your work on that! The "Policy" is progressing but needs some
more work. I hope to finish that soon. I probably will release it
without those tips & tricks since that takes more work (and therefore
time) and delays discussion. I do not have access to my box ATM, so I
have to delay it until Monday or Tuesday! Sorry for the delay!

Best regards
Manuel
