Hi Hans,
as I explained in my introductory message on Hplex, and more specifically on
the latest webpages, Hplex was written in NT batch just for the sake of
development speed -- it so happens that I write batch fast. I needed a tool
to validate my "research" on hybrids (see Some notes on Hybrids, and more
stuff is to come). There's nothing like batch (or Unix bash, for that
matter) to glue a bunch of existing apps together in the blink of an eye.
Now, I'm well aware that this choice is not a long-term optimal option. This
is why I suggested to pursue development either in Python or in C/C++ -- why
not a poll?
Also, I'm now doing the C patches against dvda-author's original "Dave"
code. So rest assured that at least dvda-author will keep on being a
cross-platform tool.
