disabling toolbar not persistentI attempted to disable the toolbar using the instructions here: http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/AquamacsFAQ#toc12
However, the instructions appear out of date -- what I actually did was: - clicked toolbar icon to remove toolbar - chose Options > Frame Styles > Use Current Style As Default (couldn't find Options → Frame Appearance Themes → Use Current Theme as Default as in instructions) - chose Save Options - quit and restart emacs -- toobar displayed Same goes for setting the default font. - chose Cmd-Shift-T to display font menu - chose Bitstream Vera Sans - chose Options > Frame Styles > Use Current Style As Default (received warning about overriding Help and other styles) - chose Yes - chose Save Options - quit and restart emacs -- font reverted to monaco In GNU Emacs 22.2.50.2 (i386-apple-darwin9.2.2, Carbon Version 1.6.0) of 2008-06-17 on plume.sr.unh.edu - Aquamacs Distribution 1.4 Windowing system distributor `Apple Inc.', version 10.5.4 configured using `configure '--without-x' '--prefix=/usr/local'' Important settings: value of $LC_ALL: nil value of $LC_COLLATE: nil value of $LC_CTYPE: nil value of $LC_MESSAGES: nil value of $LC_MONETARY: nil value of $LC_NUMERIC: nil value of $LC_TIME: nil value of $LANG: nil locale-coding-system: iso-8859-1 default-enable-multibyte-characters: t Major mode: Text Minor modes in effect: savehist-mode: t smart-frame-positioning-mode: t recentf-mode: t encoded-kbd-mode: t osx-key-mode: t show-paren-mode: t delete-selection-mode: t pc-selection-mode: t cua-mode: t tooltip-mode: t tool-bar-mode: t mouse-wheel-mode: t menu-bar-mode: t file-name-shadow-mode: t global-font-lock-mode: t font-lock-mode: t blink-cursor-mode: t unify-8859-on-encoding-mode: t utf-translate-cjk-mode: t auto-compression-mode: t column-number-mode: t line-number-mode: t transient-mark-mode: t Recent input: <help-echo> <help-echo> <help-echo> <menu-bar> <help-menu> <send-emacs-bug-report> Recent messages: Loading /Applications/Aquamacs Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/site-lisp/ site-start (compiled; note, source file is newer)...done ... done. Re: disabling toolbar not persistentWarren,
we have disabled the "Auto Frame Style" option by default in Aquamacs 1.4. Aquamacs 1.5 will turn it on automatically when the user asks to save the style. Please amend the Wiki as you see fit - perhaps add a step "make sure Auto Frame Style" is on, and also fix the names of the menu items if you will. Many thanks - David On 12 Jul 2008, at 15:28, Warren Harris wrote: > I attempted to disable the toolbar using the instructions here: http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/AquamacsFAQ#toc12 > However, the instructions appear out of date -- what I actually > did was: > > - clicked toolbar icon to remove toolbar > - chose Options > Frame Styles > Use Current Style As Default > (couldn't find Options → Frame Appearance Themes → Use Current > Theme as Default as in instructions) > - chose Save Options > - quit and restart emacs -- toobar displayed > > Same goes for setting the default font. > > - chose Cmd-Shift-T to display font menu > - chose Bitstream Vera Sans > - chose Options > Frame Styles > Use Current Style As Default > (received warning about overriding Help and other styles) > - chose Yes > - chose Save Options > - quit and restart emacs -- font reverted to monaco > > > > In GNU Emacs 22.2.50.2 (i386-apple-darwin9.2.2, Carbon Version 1.6.0) > of 2008-06-17 on plume.sr.unh.edu - Aquamacs Distribution 1.4 > Windowing system distributor `Apple Inc.', version 10.5.4 > configured using `configure '--without-x' '--prefix=/usr/local'' > > Important settings: > value of $LC_ALL: nil > value of $LC_COLLATE: nil > value of $LC_CTYPE: nil > value of $LC_MESSAGES: nil > value of $LC_MONETARY: nil > value of $LC_NUMERIC: nil > value of $LC_TIME: nil > value of $LANG: nil > locale-coding-system: iso-8859-1 > default-enable-multibyte-characters: t > > Major mode: Text > > Minor modes in effect: > savehist-mode: t > smart-frame-positioning-mode: t > recentf-mode: t > encoded-kbd-mode: t > osx-key-mode: t > show-paren-mode: t > delete-selection-mode: t > pc-selection-mode: t > cua-mode: t > tooltip-mode: t > tool-bar-mode: t > mouse-wheel-mode: t > menu-bar-mode: t > file-name-shadow-mode: t > global-font-lock-mode: t > font-lock-mode: t > blink-cursor-mode: t > unify-8859-on-encoding-mode: t > utf-translate-cjk-mode: t > auto-compression-mode: t > column-number-mode: t > line-number-mode: t > transient-mark-mode: t > > Recent input: > <help-echo> <help-echo> <help-echo> <menu-bar> <help-menu> > <send-emacs-bug-report> > > Recent messages: > Loading /Applications/Aquamacs Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/site- > lisp/site-start (compiled; note, source file is newer)...done > ... done. > Loading /Users/warren/Library/Preferences/Aquamacs Emacs/ > customizations.el (source)...done > Loading /Users/warren/Library/Preferences/Aquamacs Emacs/ > Preferences.el (source)...done > Loading /Users/warren/Library/Preferences/Aquamacs Emacs/frame- > positions.el (source)...done > Mark set > Aquamacs is based on GNU Emacs 22, a part of the GNU/Linux system. > It is Free Software: you can improve and redistribute it under the > GNU General Public License, version 3 > or later.
