It seems I sent the following as a personal reply instead of to the mailing list. I am still unable to run ESC, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
"Thanks for the help, but the .bat file throws an exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: escjava/Main"
(Note that I have (to my knowledge) correctly set the two path values in the batch file.)

Hello Harald,
There should be a .bat file in the same directory which in turn calls
the .exe file with the correct parameters and environment settings.
