deleting from a recordset object

I've converted a CF query result set into a javascript recordset using
the cfwddx tag, and need to manipulate it client-side. Example

employees.fname[0] = chris
employees.lname[0] = maso
employees.dept[0] = 1
employees.fname[1] = jane
employees.lname[1] = smith
employees.dept[1] = 5
etc...

Using javascript to add records to employees client-side is easy, as is
changing specific values, but I can't seem to find the correct method to
*delete* a record from employees.  I tried using the splice() method
(e.g., "employees.splice(1,1)" to remove the jane smith record), but
javascript throws an error, saying the object doesn't support that
method.  No big surprise, as splice() is an array method, and the
employees object isn't an array.  No luck scouring my books and the
internet - is there a known javascript method for doing what I'm trying
to do?  Thanks,

Christophe
