Hi all,
We at the Massachusetts Historical Society have a project in which we
are delivering a database of all the published letters, papers, and
diaries of John Adams and family, housed and published by the MHS's
Adams Papers (www.masshist.org/adams). This is part of an NEH grant in
the Founding Fathers Project. We're using eXist to deliver the material,
via a REST interface. PHP is generating XQuery requests to eXist, which
is returning xhtml fragments that PHP wraps in an interface.
We've made good progress, but as we have some money left for consulting,
I'd like to get help honing the XQuery and optimizing the whole system
vis-a-vis its use of eXist.
Our project is grant funded and any contract work would need to take
place in June, before the grant ends July 1st. We have enough funding
for 30-50 hours. This work would be all remotely accessed (unless you're
in the Boston area), and would amount to examining our XML and XQuery as
well as our db config, and advising on and/or rewriting XQuery (or even
the markup) to improve performance.
Note please that we are firmly rooted in the REST interface at this
point, so expertise in writing XQuery for eXist is our main need.
I've going away for a couple weeks and will be back end of May, but
wanted to send out some feelers now. If anyone is interest, please email
me with some background information on your work and your experience
with eXist and I can give you further details on our project.
Thanks,
-bill b
