brakesGreeting's
I think I may have stepped in "it" to a large degree, After we removed the ICE the wiring was really awful so we pulled it all out, all 45 lbs. Now as we're putting it all back together The brake system doesn't want to work, the switch is OK but won't light the lamps. I'm getting this oozy feeling that the equalizer hydraulic braking needs the computer to make it light up. Any body been there and done that? Re: brakesWhat is the car make? You might be right that the brake lights go through
the computer but I wouldn't think so. Brake lights are a safety issue. Typically the brake light switch on the pedal completes the ground to the brake light bulbs. The bulbs get a positive from the fuse panel. On most American cars because of the use of the same bulb for the brakes and the directional the wiring also goes through the directional stick. Don't remember exactly how though. Mark Grasser -----Original Message----- From: ev-bounces@... Re: brakesthe power for your brake lights should be coming from the fuse box to the switch ( believe this vehicle uses 2 separate switches, one for the brake lights one to signal the abs but both circuits may be built into one switch housing) when the switch is activated the power travels out of the switch in 2 wires one goes directly to the center high mount stop light the other goes up the column to the turn signal/hazard switch, when the turn signals and hazards are not in operation the power is then output from the turn/hazard switch into two wires one to the lr turn signal and one to the rr turn signal filaments, If none of the 3 lights are working I would suspect lack of power to the brake switch, if the chmsl is working but neither of the rear ones are that tends to be a bad turn signal/hazard switch > Date: Thu, 15 May 2008 07:55:32 -0700 > From: shepherd4421@... > To: evdl@...; ev@... > Subject: Re: [EVDL] brakes > > 1999 GMC sonoma > > _________________________________________________________________ With Windows Live for mobile, your contacts travel with you. http://www.windowslive.com/mobile/overview.html?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_Refresh_mobile_052008 _______________________________________________ For subscription options, see http://lists.sjsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/ev |
