blobs explained

Hi all,

I've read and re-read the all the commands on Blob, but I'm making
little headway into understanding how it works and how to retrieve
information again.

Are there several examples somewhere I can look at or further reading
I could go to that is less confusing than the official blurb.

Thanks in advance.

Michael.

Michael,

I wrote an article a number of years ago about using a blob for text import
because it is faster than parsing from a file.  The sample database I wrote
is around somewhere and includes tools for parsing a blob.

In it's simplest form, a blob is one gigantic super-stretch garbage bag full
of whatever you want to put in it.  You access it by converting it to a
certain data type, or extracting it a piece at a time.  If you would like a
copy of that article and the sample database, just let me know.

Good Luck learning and YES, blobs are great and really do speed things up,
