ardour crashing with zoom tool

hello

i've had a recurring problem with ardour:
sometimes, when using the zoom tool at the maximum magnification level
ardour crashes. on top of this, the file that has crashed cannot be
opened again. when i try to open the file again ardour crashes instantly.

has anyone else experienced this?
is there any way to save a corrupted file?
is there any way to correct / avoid this problem?

i am using:
ardour 2.4.1 (built from revision 3243)
ubuntu 8.04
kernel 2.6.24-18-rt
lenovo t61 laptop
rme multiface + pcmcia card

thanks in advance for any help!
jason

Hello,

before you do anything else, please take a copy of your session file
(the .ardour file) and the file called instant.xml in the session
directory. These can be used to help debug and possibly fix the problem.

Once you have a copy of these available, you can try editing the
instant.xml file. It has an XML-element called Editor, with a "zoom"
property. Making the value bigger should zoom out, and might fix your
problem. Please report back whether or not this helped!
