Zend_Translate best practises

Hello

I already made a really small project with Zend_Translate and gettext. The translation with poEdit was very easy and fast.
However, I'm now working on a larger project with Zend Framework and I'm thinking about what the best practises are to work with Zend_Translate.

1. How can I translate labels and validation messages when using Zend_Form with config files? I want to use gettext for this project but with poEdit it's not possible to get the translation strings from the config files. So, some translations are missing.

2. The project will be modular and each module will bring its own translation files. Is it useful to make some generic translation, with strings used by every module (e.g. submit, reset)? Is it possible to realize this with poEdit?

3. What should I use as the message ID for translation strings? Is it better to use real strings in english, like "user added successfully" or some custom identifiers like msgs.user.add.success"? What are the pros and cons?

What are your personal experiences with this things?
I hope you can give me some adivce.
