Winter mooring in Belgium

Hello everyone

We're investigating over-wintering in Belgium. Currently in Holland.

We require a canal (not river) mooring, local shops, dog access, electricity
and secure if possible. We'll live on the boat for the vast majority of the
winter.

Posted originally on manin list; got a couple of replies and a gentle
ticking off so am posting for the first time on here.

Thank you.

Jo May

Hello Jo,

Good to see your mail.

A very comfortable mooring we have used occasionally and where other
members moor over winter is the Port de Plaisance at Erquelinnes on
the upper Canal de la Sambre in Belgium near the border with France.

Address:
Yacht Club des Frontieres,
rue du Port, 59
6560, ERQUELINNES,
Belgium

Sorry I don't have the telephone number but doubtless others will
supply further info.

Best wishes,

Bob

Hello,
Hello,

We still have one spot for this coming winter in Douai, which is in France close to the Belgium border. I can provide more information if you find that location interesting.

Regards,

Hi Jo,
We have kept our barge in Erquelinnes since 2000.  It is a good spot
in which to winter over with all the shops you need within easy walking
distance.
The going rate I believe is €100 per month plus you pay for the
electricity you use.  The YCDF has free toilets, showers and washer and
dryer in the Capitainerie.  It is normally possible to get a winter mooring
but to be sure one is available on the quay and not rafted out you would
need to contact the Captain Michael at 0032 475 57 85 44.  He is a very
helpful gentleman but only speaks French.
We will be returning to Erquelinnes the first week of September and
would be happy to do what we can to help.

Cheers, Roger
