Windows versionHi,
I was wondering if there's any plans for a windows version since GIMP and Inkscape (GTK programs) are now portable to Windows? Tuan _______________________________________________ Passepartout mailing list Passepartout@... https://lists.stacken.kth.se/mailman/listinfo/passepartout |

To be honest, they are portable for ages :) Basically, all you need to compile a Gtk application on Windows is a Windows PC, a working build environment and a lot of spare time. Is there any single chance that more developers can help with pushing Passepartout forward, if Win32 port will be available? None actually planned, and Passepartout development is rather slow at the moment, even on unix ... -- Rasmus Kaj --+-- rasmus@... --+-- http://www.stacken.kth.se/~kaj/ Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bullshit before _______________________________________________ Passepartout mailing list Passepartout@... https://lists.stacken.kth.se/mailman/listinfo/passepartout |

Isn't that the problem? :-) I don't think compiling Passepartout on Windows would be a big problem, but you would have to verify that it works properly too. I'm sure there are several unicisms in the code, e.g. using temp files, looking in $HOME and /etc, assumptions about path names, using /bin/sh, et cetera. Nothing major, but it would have to be addressed. /Fredrik _______________________________________________ Passepartout mailing list Passepartout@... https://lists.stacken.kth.se/mailman/listinfo/passepartout |

Passepartout is open source -- Anyone with suffient knowledge of application programming in a windows environment is welcome to port it ... That said, I doubt it will happen. One thing I do hope *will* happen is that Passepartout will be reimplemented using the Cairo graphics API. I am currently investigating the platform and hope to find time to do some actual programming on it later this year ... Since Cairo is (at least supposed to be) cross-platform, that might make porting even easier. The current state of both the C++ Cairo bindings and the PDF backend of Cairo is not good enough for what I would require for Passepartout, but that will probably change (with or without help from this direction). -- Rasmus Kaj <rasmus@...> -- http://www.stacken.kth.se/~kaj/ _______________________________________________ Passepartout mailing list Passepartout@... https://lists.stacken.kth.se/mailman/listinfo/passepartout |
