Windows XP64 install bugInstalling Protege 3.31 on Windows XP64, everything works except that I
get "Task menu => All Program => Protege 3.31 => (empty)". If I navigate to c:\Program Files (x86)\Protege_3.3.1 I can launch the application by double clicking on protege.exe and everything seems to work. Maybe somewhere an incorrrect assumption is being made about c:\Program Files vs. c:\Program Files(x86)? David -- David J. Re: Windows XP64 install bugHello David,
Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the installer. The installer is working fine on 32-bit XP systems, but unfortunately, I don't have a 64-bit system to test with. I would recommend the following: 1). Upgrade to the latest Protege 3.4 beta build [1]. We are not that far away from releasing this version and it has many important bug fixes that have been integrated since the 3.3.1 release. 2). If you still have problems with an empty Program Group, you can fix this manually in the Windows Explorer under C:\Documents and Settings\<your-user-name>\Start Menu\Programs. Here, you can edit the Protege Program Group to have the name that you want, and you can make sure that the correct shortcut to the Protege application is present. Steps for doing this sort of thing are described in detail on Microsoft's website [2]. Re: Windows XP64 install bug
Thanks, I will give it a try. XP64 is a bit of an odd ball OS. Most
apps are really XP32 running in compatability mode. Even has two
distinct and non-interoperating ODBC frameworks :(

Re: Windows XP64 install bugJennifer,
I have a 64-bit XP machine. With Protege 3.4 beta, I also have empty program group. However, Protege 4 correctly installs the program group on my machine. You can check its settings to see how that's done. Samson Jennifer Vendetti wrote: > Hello David, > > Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the installer.
