Why so few Plugins?

Sirs

It is a shame, but for an upcoming new project which is quite big I am forced to consider Drupal and not by beloved CF with Farcry

I simply have not the time or even the expertise to develop the required features ie:

Members Only section
Banner Advert administration
Wiki
Forum
and Perhaps a Blog

These are things available a-plenty with Joomla and Drupal and I am guessing that they also exist for Farcry but are not PD. The add-ons I can find are sparse to say the least. That's a shame for this excellent CMS.

Could you not incorporate BlogCFC, Galleon or cf_bb and Canvas into FarCry?

I am asking because I am not sure.

A members only section is simply a matter of changing the permissions on your

Banner Advert administration

Banner advertising would be very simple to create using the various existing datatypes and writing a rule that will display the banner ads in a container on your site.

There is a blog in the works (and I need to persuade a certain someone to put some code into SVN so I can work on it!), but it is possible with a bit of work to integrate BlogCFC into farcry.
You can see it in action here : http://www.dott07.com/go/dott-blog
I would release it, but I'm not happy with the way I've done it, plus it has some extensions specific to Dott.

I haven't tried it, but if you can get blogcfc to work then canvas and Galleon are possible as well.

These are things available a-plenty with Joomla and Drupal and I am guessing

Farcry 4 has only been released officially for about 6 months, but there are more and more people picking up on how powerful it is and how easy it is to develop with and extend.
As more people get proficient with the framework more plugins will appear.

Stephen

This post must have seemed like I am just plain lazy, but hey, I am very busy and took up CF very late in life (I'm very old!!) I am good at plain linear CF5 style coding but object oriented is still difficult for me.

I do use BlogCFC and of course could simply link to that or any other add on for that matter. I just want to get it into the framework. Which it seem like Mr. Moretti might have done.

For my smaller sites I use Bytespring which suits the users nicely.

For a new project coming up (for which my partner has already said we would have something up by Christmas) Drupal's ACL and other features fit the bill. I just dont want to go down the PHP route!!

Although I have played with Farcry  I haven't developed for it although the new handbook should be good.

**** What I really need are a blog and a forum. If anyone (hint, Mr. Morettit) has anything to offer in some state to start off with I would be very happy.
