What is the difference in FarCry Core vs. CMS?Especially in the latest releases, the FarCry CMS has been advertised more as a separate plug in that is on top of the FarCry "Core". However, anything I have found written thus far seems to talk about them as one. Can anybody point me to some documentation or offer a break down as to what functionality is part of the Core vs. the CMS? Thanks --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "farcry-user" group. FarCry CMS Bundle is a collection of core, plugins and sample application that comprise an out of the box CMS solution. If you are after a CMS solution then looking at them separately is not relevant. If you are looking for a web application framework for CF, then understanding what comprises the framework only might be more relevant. We generally view "content management" as a commodity requirement that all web applications have. As a consequence, the framework and its sub-systems have a very rich set of tools for building content management solutions. The CMS bundle is an example of such a solution, all the features of which can be extended or replaced as needed. Specifically farcrycms plugin contains News, Event, Fact (tiles), and Links -- in addition to a variety of additional publishing rules. As the 4.0 code base matures, more sub-systems will be extracted as plugins, so that developers have greater control over exactly what gets included in their distribution. For example, its likely that both Verity and Web Stats functionality will be decoupled from the framework as plugins in the 4.1 release. Hopefully that helps, -- geoff http://www.daemon.com.au/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "farcry-user" group. Re: What is the difference in FarCry Core vs. CMS?Thanks Geoff. This was more for research / learning than anything. I was just under the impression from a few things I read that there was more of a clear delineation between the two pieces, yet any time I looked at the code, everything appeared pretty dependent. Thanks again. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "farcry-user" group.
