Victron Multi Plus error codes??

Evening All,

Commissioned a pair of Victron MP units at the beginning of the week using the software and no problems  at all.  Filled the dry charged batteries and set them off on their initial charge which lasted 3 1/2 days!  I'm now getting flashing "absorption" and "float" yellow leds - which means a temp sense issue.  Have swapped units, battery temp sensors and battery negative posts in all combinations and flashing leds remain.  Only go out if I disconnect temp sense.  Am I likely to have 2 duff sensors??
Any ideas out there??

The Victron manual is particularly thin on info - eg how many amps is the multifunction relay controlled by the virtual switch rated at??

We had two Multiplus 3000's installed this year which also continuously flashed the yellow led's. I eventually found the battery temperature error code on the Victron website corresponding to this flashing and contacted Energy Solutions who supplied the units (although they were installed by a local company). It transpired that a software fault was causing the problem and ES sent an engineer to recalibrate the temp sensor.

All now works well but I have to say that the documentation from Victron is hopeless and they seem to be going through major updates to kit without being able to support users in the field. While the sofware system is very clever and versatile (and I am a software engineer), I am concerned that these products are becoming too conplex for the average user to install and maintain and as a critical part of our power system, rely on expensive and skilled people to install and support. Would you be able to find a Victron installer in the middle of Europe with a spare unit and laptop required to get you out of trouble if a unit failed?

I agree

Colin,

I believe the temperature sensors are just thermistors, and as such you
could test them in a cup of water with a DVM. Probably best done over a
range of temperatures.

I had an occasional problem with my Victron's going from Bulk to Absorption
and Bulk then dropping to no charge and then resetting themselves. Very odd.

In a fit of peek I ripped out the temperature sensor, as that was all I had
fitted since they worked normally, and fitted another sensor.

To-date no repeat of the resetting problem.

If I find the faulty sensor, assuming I had not given it a soak test, I will
post the resistance value.
