Hi,

I was wanting to try out OpenBSD on various hardware architectures.
I could do it only x86 and amd64 till I read miod's blog

http://undeadly.org/cgi?action=article&sid=20060825232507

where I came to know of SIMH :-)

So I did install OpenBSD on VAX too

http://www.bsd-india.org/pipermail/bsd-india/2006-October/001218.html

I would like to know if there are books available for VAX architecture like the

Peter Norton's book.

http://www.informit.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=0672322897&rl=1

or any other plave I can lear more about the VAX architecture?

Thankyou so much :-) especially to miod :-)

Kind regards

Siju

The VAX ``bible'' is the ``VAX Architecture Reference Manual''
(Richard A. Brunner, Digital Press, ISBN 1-55558-057-2), which extensively
documents the processor. Unfortunately these books are quite difficult to
come by those days, and there is no online version of it I am aware of.

For complete systems, the ``VAX Architecture Handbook'' and ``VAX
Hardware Handbook'' publications from Digital might be of interest as
well.

And for clues on how to build an OS around the above, "VAX/VMS
Internals and Data Structures" is interesting to read, though the
exercise may be akin to learning Martian on a lark.

Thankyou so much miod and Hugh for your replies :-)

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/wizard/wiz_4029.html

says "VAX/VMS Internals and Data Structures" is out of print.

Thankyou so much once again :-)

Kind regards
