User DocumentationIs there more up to date User Documentation, that we can
print out for a client? I realise that that wiki has a lot of info already, was
hoping that maybe someone has already compiled it into a PDF document already,
or am I pushing my luck?

Re: User DocumentationThanks, but I do need printable material that is geared towards a normal user of the system.

FarCry 3.0 User Guide http://docs.farcrycms.org:8080/confluence/display/FCUSER30/Home There are a few PDFs in there -- prolly not the comprehensive printed doc you are after. I recently updated the WIKI with a few more legacy documents -- might be worth a second look. Regards, -- geoff http://www.daemon.com.au/ PS. Daemon runs instructor-led classes for contributors using 3.0 and 4.0 that includes a User Guide covering those features covered in the course. Currently the manual is not sold separately. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "farcry-user" group. Re: User DocumentationGeoff,
I am going to say this, and I would appreciate you understand it from our point of view. When we deal with clients, we need to know that the support and documentation to a product is going to get us the answers we need, as much as what our clients require.
Since V2.3, the documentation has/is being neglected far to much. Sometimes it is very hand to print something out for future reference, in a nice easy documentation that gives enough information that one can always go back to read.
The best example of this is SVN and the documentation is very detailed, and can be printed out and used at any stage without having to go to the computer and search through link after link of information.
I know I sound like a broken record, but it's what can make or break a product.
Coldfusion has the added problem that companies do not see it as a serious tool, without open source products for coldfusion making it any more difficult. I know of 4 farcry sites that are being redeveloped in favour of PHP open source products for that very reason.
And to top it off, I was again pointed back to the wiki after stating that I neede more than what the wiki offered.
Sorry to bring it up again...

As I mentioned previously, Daemon provide Contributor training (in Australia and the US) that comes complete with a user contributor guide. This is a commercial offering. We would be happy to address your client's training and documentation requirements. FARCRY INSTRUCTOR BASED TRAINING http://www.daemon.com.au/go/services/farcry-training/farcry-instructor-based-training > I know I sound like a broken record, but it's what can make or break a > product. Yes, I agree whole heartedly; you do sound like a broken record. > Coldfusion has the added problem that companies do not see it as a serious > tool, without open source products for coldfusion making it any more > difficult. Have heard this argument from you many times in other forums. Please do not raise it in this forum again -- it is wholly inappropriate. > And to top it off, I was again pointed back to the wiki after stating that I > neede more than what the wiki offered. The wiki was mentioned for the benefit of other readers. And as a convenient link to recent content that has been added. You may note that the WIKI is updated almost daily across all areas. We are doing our best to improve documentation, however, we are a commercial enterprise and we have to pay salaries and all that other boring stuff. Our commercial offerings are always developed first, be they training, documentation, support or project based work. Once again I invite you and your company to contribute a small portion of resources to the FarCry community, which might go some way to giving back some of the resources you have saved in using this platform for your own site and those of your clients.
