1.) The stated mission of the Seminary's is to prepare men and women for Christian ministry in today's world. It is very important that our ministry is contemporary and relevant in these changing times. The mission of the Seminary is to be carried out under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, committed to the Holiness-Pentecostal heritage of the Church of God. A community of faith with a global mission, the COGTS is the flagship of ministerial training for the Church of God.
Having been a member of the Church of God most of my life, I would not be comfortable in any seminary setting that did not have a Holiness-Pentecostal heritage. And having been involved with the Seminary for many years, I can relate totally with the Mission/Vision statement. Being personally acquainted with most of the faculty and staff, I have great admiration for, and confidence in every one of them. It is an honor to be a COG seminarian.
2.) One of the most obvious aspects of the curriculum is the natural emphasis on the Pentecostal perspective in all the studies. I suppose we Pentecostals can't do it any other way. I am impressed with the wide scope of courses offered: Old Testament books, New Testament books, languages, historical studies, more contemporary studies on a variety of subjects. And of course, even footwashing, I love it!!
