I thought that Dr. Slocumb's assessments were extremely helpful in understanding not only where I've come from, who I've become (been shaped as a result) but most importantly WHY i'm going WHERE im going!  The Holy Spirit also used it to teach me something.  God "wired" me the way He did on purpose; as such He doen't want me to try to change it...just hone it.  Yet at the same time, He wishes me to not to use it as an excuse to defend my weak points, but rather as a "diagnostic x-ray" to strenthen them.  I have learned that I have never given my weak point much of a chance.  Hence I've enjoyed experiementing and discovering newer areas that God is opening up to me to complete the initial "basic-programming"!  This has taught me how to understand others - especially my family, friends, and those to whom I'm called to minister to be a better communicator of His Word.

April,

I think it is important to chose a honing approach, as you have mentioned. There are things we must change, but to change what God had designed in order to fit what we or others may prefer in a personality is not wise. We have a purpose and we are wonderfully made to accomplish it.

April,
I really liked what you said about God making us the way we are for a purpose. I have not always believed that, however when I came to know Christ this became very clear to me. I knew that I had a purpose that there was a plan and I just needed to follow Him and that he would show me the way. Of course we sometimes stray from the purpose or plan and I believe these assessements were good reminders of where we needed to get back on course.
