Uncovering table ENTRIES with beamer

Dear Friends,
The beamer userguide gives clear ways to uncover a table row-wise or
column-wise.  Has anyone found a way to uncover entries?

Suppose, for instance, you want to show the entries of a table above
the main diagonal, and then those below.  Any ideas?
