The servlet specification says that all JARs go into WEB-INF/lib, and
not in any subdirectories. To get this to work, you'd have to either
modify the ClassLoader that your webapp uses (which is provided by
Tomcat) or write your own. I don't recommend either approach.
What I would recommend is that, if it's helpful for your project to keep
the JAR files in subdirectories, use a tool like 'ant' for your
deployment. When you create a WAR file for deployment, just collapse all
the subdirectories into one and deploy like that.
